Out of the ashes of the failed Fredonia Watch Company of Fredonia, New York, J. C. Adams formed a new Peoria Watch Company in Peoria, Illinois. New factory construction began in June, 1886 and production started in early 1887. All the watches were quick train and full plate 18-size. Peoria made a concerted effort to sell to railroad companies. Several large orders from some railroads were recieved, but because of serious production problems, the orders were unable to be filled and the company closed its doors in 1889.
